just came up with an interesting idea over IM just now: Sherlock Holmes may have been a sufferer of Aspergers, or perhaps some other autism spectrum disorder. It’s an interesting possibility. Thoughts?

I absolutely agree. I’ve watched only 20 minutes of the movie, but based on character depiction I believe he presents with Asperger’s or an extremely highly functional autism (since we’re moving away from Asperger’s in the field, I guess). Given the sensitivity to sound, complex cognitive processing, and lack of emotional investment/understanding I believe it’s a pretty solid diagnosis. I actually went online to see if the psych community picked up on it…
